Hacktivist group Anonymous launched an attack this week targeting more than two dozen websites alleged to trade in child pornography, knocking them offline for an indefinite period of time. Dubbed #OpPedoChat, the mass take-down was coordinated by a group calling itself xL3gi0n Hackers. ‘Tangos Down”, read an announcement posted to Pastebin.com, followed by a list of all the neutralized websites and screenshots depicting their status as offline. Beneath the list this note was left warning other child pornographers:
Greetings citizens of the world.
We are anonymous. We are defenders of the internet. We are yet again on the heels of pedophiles around the world. There are many websites with children being exposed and it is not right morally, legally or in respect to human rights. Pedophiles of the internet this is a warning to you. This is a warning to your supporters and anyone that takes part in your sick world.
