Czech Town Upset That Porsche Museum Overlooks Namesake’s Nazi Past

Ferdinand Porsche may be celebrated as the designer of the Volkswagen and for the car line that still bears his name,  but there are some who would prefer to forget that the engineer joined Hitler’s SS in 1937 and served as the head of  the Fuhrer’s tank commissioner. He knew Hitler personally and used slave labor to build the Volkswagens requested by the dictator.

Veterans and Jewish groups say that an “exhibition” (formerly designated as a memorial) built in Porsche’s birth place (Vratislavice nad Nisouto, Czech Republic) to honor his legacy has brushed over his SS past and relationship with Hitler.

But not everyone in this modest locality of nearly 8,000 residents northeast of the capital Prague felt comfortable trumpeting their native son.

Last year, a new team voted into city hall could no longer ignore growing protests that Vratislavice — in an area annexed by Nazi Germany in the late 1930s — was “memorialising” a man who had worked for Adolf Hitler.

16 Human Skulls Found On Streets Of Prague

Via Fox News, it’s skull season:

Police in Prague say 15 human skulls have been found in a wooden box found on a street, and another was found in a garbage bin.

Spokeswoman Jana Roesslerova says police found the 15 skulls Thursday morning near a garbage container after they were alerted by a telephone caller. Roesslerova says each skull was numbered. She says another skull, also bearing a number, was found in a garbage bin Wednesday by a homeless person.

Police say it is not clear whether the two cases are connected. They have asked experts to help in their investigation.

Czech Pastafarian Wins Rights To Wear Strainer At All Times

Someone stop this before it makes a mockery out of religion! The Daily Mail reports:

Prankster Lukas Novy, from Brno in the Czech Republic, claims that his Pastafarian faith means he has to wear the sieve at all times. Novy claims to be a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Officials ruled that turning down Novy’s request would be a breach of the country’s religious equality laws. Brno City Hall spokesman Pavel Zara explained: ‘The application complies with the laws of the Czech Republic where headgear for religious or medical reasons is permitted if it does not hide the face.’
