Last week the year-and-a-half long group read of the Illuminatus! trilogy wrapped up over at RAWIllumination.net, and as a result there is a treasure trove of new interpretive/annotative information about Robert Anton Wilson & Robert Shea’s cult classic.

If you’ve ever wandered down that peculiar rabbit hole on the internet that revolves around the various Illuminati-specific conspiracy theories, you’ve likely seen some bizarre shit, some of it migraine inducing.
Every music video is a snarky thumb in our eye from our secret masters, The Illuminati, and every celebrity pop tart in leopard print is a mind-controlled sex slave thanks to our friends in the MK-Ultra (and its sexier cousin MK-Naomi, which is so secret it doesn’t even have a Wikpedia entry) Program.
Fun Fact: Not everyone in animal print is a zombie sex slave (I can hear the disappointed sighing, so zip it). Some people just have bad taste in clothes.
The Transhuman agenda runs amok in the healthcare system and rappers, somehow, are the only ones in the know other than Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. And Taylor Swift.
And now, apparently, Miley Cyrus has been Illuminated- or is she part of an even weirder conspiracy for the control of your mind?… Read the rest
Kerry Thornley was co-author with Greg Hill of the seminal Discordian text Principia Discordia. In this 1992 interview with Rev. Wyrdsli Thornley discusses the bowling alley genesis of Discordianism and how Robert Anton Wilson came to be involved.

Groucho Gandhi writes, “‘Crackpot Historian’ Adam Gorightly (the current Keeper of the Sacred Chao) saved the archives of Discordian co-founder Greg “Malaclypse the Younger” Hill from the literal dustbin of history by swooping up the Hill archives as they were about to be tossed in the dumpster. Srsly!
“Why is this important? Greg Hill (thru Discordianism) created the first proto-zine, The Principia Discordia, and the precursor to the Creative Commons licensing scheme, first known as KopyLeft, All Rites Reversed. Now Adam Gorightly is taking the Discordian Archives and releasing them.”
It’s been fifty years since the Kennedy assassination. Fifty years since the conspiracy subculture came screaming out of the hivemind’s womb. Fifty years since the CIA made “conspiracy theorist” a derogatory term (if you believe some people). I planned to acknowledge the day with some kind of drinking game associated with the Zapruder film, but I couldn’t make it work.
Everyone remembers where they were when Kennedy died, but no one seems to be able to pinpoint the moment they were dragged into conspiracy land. I was ripe for it. I believe everything I hear for at least five seconds. And there’s something sexy about an intricate web of connections. Thankfully, I was exposed to Robert Anton Wilson’s playful brand of agnosticism at an early age and escaped delusion’s evil clutches.
So, of course, he just had to be tied into the JFK assassination.
Wilson, in his introduction to the Prankster and the Conspiracy, says he was accused of being a CIA “handler” by author Kerry Thornley, who was convinced that he had been the subject of MK-Ultra experiments along with his army buddy, (here it comes) Lee Harvey Oswald.… Read the rest
Essays for The Discordian Occultist, Part 5.
Discordian occultism is a system which has only rules which you’ve chosen or invented. Discordians are almost supernaturally bound to be contrary to “dogmas”, wherever or whenever they notice them. This also includes the dogmas inherent in the previous sentence. This essay, the final part of our series, will not be for everyone as we inevitably get drawn into the highly subjective world of Discordian occult theory. This means that, in a sense, much of it should be treated as a work of fiction alike to a poem, crude painting or pleasant song. However we will wrap the discussion up with a look at one of the most useful of all skills: divination. If you want to skip the theory and move to that, be my guest. There’s a quick three step guide at the bottom which comes after the sacred Discordian words of initiation.… Read the rest

Part 3, Essays for the Discordian occultist: introduction to the art of freaking out
Previous articles in this series, “Life is but a dream” and “Living The Dream,” have deliberately avoided too much theory and focused instead on practice. One of the reasons we started in Part 1 with lucid dreaming is because it acts as a safe environment for your early magick use while teaching you most of the essentials in a fairly short period of time. For example, in that particular state you will have noticed the slightest negative thought manifests instantly. Furthermore, if you set out to have a nightmare it’s not hard to make yourself wake up screaming. However, few people do this because dealing with such situations usually comes instinctively. After all in that world you are an all powerful great magician who can make even the grass go green.… Read the rest

My friend JMR Higgs has written a book, an excellent book in fact, called KLF: Chaos Magic Music Money, concerning the influence of Robert Anton Wilson on the British rave band The KLF.
The book takes in the themes of Discordianism and the works of Robert Anton Wilson as a way of explaining why the KLF, as The K Foundation burnt a million quid in 1994.
I suggested to John that we could create an audio version of the book, read by a speech synthesiser, and release it in a limited form. However nothing digital is ever really limited these days, so we decided against simple downloadable file.
One of the key themes of the book is time, the notion of events being related to each other in time and space.

Part 2, Essays for the Discordian occultist: inducing a magickal state of consciousness
Magick is a highly subjective skill. According to the occultist, Ramsey Dukes, as a discipline it lies somewhere alongside ‘art’, ‘science’ and ‘religion’ . All of these pursuits require a certain state of mind. The magick user who entirely excludes the possibility of magick from his worldview is like a cleric who knows no God, an artist with no appreciation for art or a scientist who refuses to accept the laws of mathematics. It’s not necessarily the case that you will be unsuccessful but it’s significantly less likely. So, for as long as is comfortable, it’s time to allow magick to be part of your reality.… Read the rest
