On this day, August 13, 2013, former Marine and liberty activist Adam Kokesh went before the DC Superior Court. His court appearance was centered on two bail hearings for both a felony and misdemeanor charge. The felony charges were a result of his now famous Fourth of July video where he allegedly loads a shotgun on Freedom Plaza in the District as well as mushrooms supposedly found on his premises during the now infamous police raid on his home in Herndon last month.

Drunk, Shirtless Cop Points Gun at Convenience Store Clerk During Three AM Visit

One of two drunk, shirtless, and armed sheriff’s deputies equipped with bullet-proof vests who came wandering into a convenience store at three in the morning decided to point his pistol twice at the clerk working the desk. The 23 year-old deputy was already on probation ten months into his job. He has since been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Inexplicably, he has since been released by the judge into “pre-trial services.” Be sure to ask for the same if you’re drunk and/or stupid enough to pull this kind of stunt.

Millions Of ‘Mentally Ill’ People Missing From National Gun Check System

Just in case a convicted felon can’t get a gun on the black market, he may have a chance to obtain it legally. Raw Story reports:

The issue of gun control leapt back into the national discourse in the wake of January’s Tucson massacre.

But one of the most shocking gaps in the effort to prevent people prohibited by law from purchasing firearms continues to fly beneath the radar. Records of at least two million dangerously mentally ill individuals whose names should already be in the nation’s criminal background check system remain missing.

Tens of thousands of people’s records that would fall into other legally disqualifying categories in the background check system are also missing, with convicted felons high on the list. Yet Raw Story confirmed with experts on gun control that records of those whose mental illness has been legally determined to be a danger to themselves or others far outnumber the unreported information of individuals in other prohibiting categories.
