David Miscavige Set to Reveal Scientology Tech Upgrades Saturday

Scientology looks like it’s taking a page from the Steve Jobs playbook:
This Saturday, Scientologists in the Los Angeles area are being asked to come to a “confidential briefing” that is so secret, they will be asked to sign special bonds at the door.
At that briefing, they will be told for the first time about major changes coming to the Church of Scientology — changes that we first told you about in June.
What has been rumored for months is actually here: Scientology leader David Miscavige is taking one of the biggest risks of his life and is revealing the alterations he is making to L. Ron Hubbard’s “standard tech.”
But is the Church of Scientology actually ready for his “Golden Age of Tech 2″?
The Music Of L. Ron Hubbard
It’s little known that L. Ron Hubbard left behind a body of musical compositions, lyrics, and sound experiments intended as a soundtrack for the Battlefield Earth series and to promote the ethos of Scientology. John Travolta, teenybopper heartthrob Leif Garrett, and Frank Stallone, all heard singing below, were part of a Scientology super-group who recorded an album of Hubbard-penned songs in 1986. An odder, alternate version of “Road to Freedom” features L. Ron himself crooning in a low, booming voice, with the track retitled “L’Envoi, Thank You for Listening.”
Two stanzas include: You are not mind or chemicals / You don’t even have a form / You’re in a trap of senseless lies / It’s time to be reborn. / To you there is no limit / Knowledge is your key / Take the route of auditing / And once again be free.
Vietnam Turns To Scientology To Treat Its Agent Orange Victims
Truth may be stranger than fiction, but when it comes to scientology it’s hard to know which is which…. From ABC News:
The Vietnamese government is turning to a “detoxification” method developed by the founder of the Church of Scientology to treat victims of Agent Orange, a toxic defoliant the U.S. military used during the Vietnam War.
According to local media reports, 24 patients from the central city of Da Nang were admitted to the Hanoi 103 Military Hospital last week to begin a free, month-long treatment to rid the body of dioxins that have been linked to birth defects, cancers and other diseases.
The “Hubbard Method,” named after L. Ron Hubbard, requires taking vitamins and minerals, exercising and sweating in saunas. Scientologists have used it to treat alcoholism and drug addiction in the past, and offered similar services to New York City’s first responders who were exposed to toxins in the 9/11 terror attacks.
Mitt Romney’s Favorite Novel Is L. Ron Hubbard’s Battlefield Earth
Just when America thought it couldn’t be any more confused by Mormonism, Romney went and said this. To be fair, he added that his favorite book overall (nonfiction included) is the bible, an answer which all Republican presidential candidates must give from now to eternity. A nugget from the New York Times five years ago:
“What’s your favorite novel?” is a perennial campaign question, the answer to which presumably gives insight into leadership. A “Moby-Dick” lover may understand the perils of obsessively chasing of a goal. A fan of “To Kill a Mockingbird” may well focus on racial justice.

Ohio State professor Hugh Urban is no stranger to esoteric religions, and The Village Voice blog Runnin’ Scared is no stranger either to the professor or to his other pet project: well-deserved exposés of that most modern of esoteric religions, Scientology.
Regular Disinfo readers would be familiar with the following slightly paranoia-inducing fact, as the post puts it: “that after his involvement in WWII, Hubbard shacked up with Jet Propulsion Lab rocket scientist Jack Parsons, a man heavily into the occult, and in particular the teachings of The Great Beast, British occultist Aleister Crowley.”
Many a conspiracy theory has been launched from this outlier.
