Paul Craig Cobb’s White Power Colony in North Dakota

ND Grant County LeithIf you live in some parts of the United States this story would be hard to believe. In others it’s all too credible. From the New York Times:

LEITH, N.D. — The bearded man with thinning, gray-and-bleach-blond hair flapping down his neck first appeared in this tiny agricultural town last year, quietly and inconspicuously roaming the crackly dirt roads.

Nettie Ketterling thought nothing of it when he came into her bar to charge his cellphone in an outlet beneath the mounted head of a mule deer. To Kenneth Zimmerman, the man was just another customer, bringing his blue Dodge Durango in for repairs. Bobby Harper did not blink when the man appeared in front of his house and asked him if he had any land to sell. And the mayor, Ryan Schock, was simply extending a civic courtesy when he swung by the man’s house to introduce himself.

Their new neighbor, they thought, was just another person looking to get closer to the lucrative oil fields in western North Dakota known as the Bakken.

Neo-Nazi Planning To Build White Supremacist Town In North Dakota

whites-only

Time to cancel the trip to North Dakota you weren’t going to take anyway? The Bismark Tribune reports:

A man wanted in Canada for hate crimes plans to create a white nationalist community in a small Grant County town off the radar.

Craig Paul Cobb, 61, owns a two-story house and 12 other lots in Leith, a town of 19 people, according to county records. Cobb advocates racial holy war and is promoting his property in Leith to others like him.

Asked by county employees why he was buying so many lots, he said he planned to buy up as much property as he could and rename the town “Cobbsville,” said Tax Director Muriel Ulrich.

County records show that Cobb has since transferred ownership of two lots: one to Tom Metzger, a former grand dragon of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in California, and another to Alex Linder, originator of the Vanguard News Network, a white supremacist website.

A Major U.S. Nuclear Base Running A ‘Containment Exercise’ Amid Censored Radiation Spikes?

Via the 4th Media:

Amid a number of reports of massive and bizarre radiation readouts coming from experts, eyewitnesses, radiation facilities, and a key choice news outlet, it has now come out that one of the largest nuclear bases is currently running a ‘nuclear containment exercise’. The Minot Airforce Base exercise, running in North Dakota, reportedly involves the use of B-52 aircrafts. The news comes after a developing story arose over the potential cover-up of a nuclear situation stemming from near the border of Indiana and Michigan.

Sources from near where the elevated levels of radiation were observed say that a Department of Homeland Security ‘hazmat’ fleet has been dispatched after ‘years’ of inactivity. The story first erupted after online geiger readings showed an unprecedented radiation spike in the area, with levels reaching as high as 7.139 counts per minute (CPM) over the average of between 5 and 6. While there has been no official reported cause of the spike, there has been quite a bit of foul play regarding the information being put forth by many media outlets, the EPA, and even radiation measurement centers.

The Roads In North Dakota Are Giving People Cancer

800px-Nd_slope1What do you do when you find out the roads in your town are giving you and your children cancer? Via io9:

In Dunn County, North Dakota, the roads can kill you. In fact, anything you do to disturb rocks in the area, like driving or even sweeping, can kick up naturally-occurring particles that lodge in your body and give you a rare kind of lung cancer up to 30 years later. Dunn County, you see, is home to a lot of rocks containing erionite, an asbestos-like substance that’s highly toxic. Unfortunately, nobody knew that until very recently. And so at least 300 miles of roads in North Dakota are paved with the stuff.

What do you do when you discover that you’ve built your county’s infrastructure out of poison rocks?

So far, nothing is being done. This week, a group of researchers published an article about the problem in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences about the dangers in the county’s roads.
