Young Earth Creationist Ken Ham Challenges Pat Robertson to Debate

creationism-4See, Bill Nye? This is what happens when you feed these trolls. At least they’re turning on each other. I wonder what Ham thinks of Robertson’s statements that Katrina destroyed New Orleans because of gays? That “science”, too?

Creation Museum founder Ken Ham is once again furious that Pat Robertson has mocked proponents of Young Earth Creationism, and now wants to appear on the “700 Club” to debate the televangelist.

Ham, who recently held a debate with Bill Nye, said in a blog post today that he is willing to debate Robertson either on the “700 Club” or at Regent University, the school founded by Robertson.

I wonder if Pat Robertson would be prepared to discuss these issues with me or one of our AiG scientists on the 700 Club? Or maybe in some sort of debate format at Regent University? We are certainly willing to do that—maybe all of you reading this could challenge CBN/Regent University to allow such a discussion, debate, or forum to occur publicly.

Pat Robertson: Jesus Said An Asteroid Could Destroy Earth Next Week

Pat Robertson uses “scientific explanations” for Biblical prophecies when they suit him. I hope that wherever they film the 700 Club is the pitcher’s mitt when Jesus winds up to throw that big cosmic fastball.

Via RightWingWatch:

In November, scientists predict that a massive asteroid will fly near the earth in one of the planet’s closest encounters with an asteroid since 1976. While most people are focusing on how radar and observers can watch the asteroid pass-by, Pat Robertson is using the occasion to propagate his End Times prophesy.

Even Pat Robertson Thinks Young Earth Creationism is Bullshit

When the guy who thinks God nailed New Orleans with Hurricane Katrina because he was angry about abortion believes your brand of Christian fundamentalism is full of it, then you might have a problem.

Via Christian Science Monitor:

A day after “Science Guy” Bill Nye and Creation Museum founder Ken Ham faced off in a discussion about life’s origins – a debate pitting evolutionary science against the belief that God created the earth and all its creatures in six days – the televangelist and political provocateur Pat Robertson called the literalist view of six-day creation “nonsense.”

TV’s ‘Science Guy’ Bill Nye and Ken Ham of the Creation Museum debated the origins of the universe. The debate at the Creation Museum in Kentucky included astrophysics, evolution and the Biblical story of creation.

“There ain’t no way that’s possible,” Mr. Robertson said Wednesday on his show, “The 700 Club,” taking issue with the “young earth” version of creationism, which holds that the universe is about 6,000 to 10,000 years old.

Pat Robertson Wants to Legalize Pot

Pat PotHell has frozen over. Mike Riggs writes on Reason:

Pat Robertson, America’s longest-serving eschatological bigot and spiritual leader, took to the airwaves of the 700 Club last week and denounced the war on weed, as well as liberals, all of whom write laws in a “punitive spirit.” Putting aside the fact that Robertson has, on occasion, invited God to smite people people of abominable politics and preferences, this time he is making (some) sense:

We here in America make up 5% of the world’s population, but we make up 25% of jailed prisoners…

Every time the liberals pass a bill — I don’t care what it involves — they stick criminal sanctions on it. They don’t feel there is any way people are going to keep a law unless they can put them in jail.

I became sort of a hero of the hippie culture, I guess, when I said I think we ought to decriminalize the possession of marijuana.

Pat Robertson Addresses Occupy Wall Street

Wondering if it's possible to be both a Christian and a participant in the Occupy Wall Street protests? Christian media mogul and top televangelist Pat Robertson clears up this question sent in by a loyal viewer: no, because the protests are of Satan and an attempt to destroy the nation. What a surprise.

Prosecutor: Pat Robertson Had Gold Deal with African Dictator

From ABC News:

Prosecutors at the human rights trial of former Liberian warlord Charles Taylor alleged Thursday that Christian televangelist Pat Robertson had lobbied the White House on Taylor’s behalf in return for a gold mining contract.

The controversial pastor and former Republican presidential contender met with then-President George W. Bush on Taylor’s behalf, prosecutors charged during cross-examination of Taylor in a Dutch courtroom, allegedly in return for a contract to mine gold in southeast Liberia — a contract they say that Taylor had no legal right to grant.

Lead Prosecutor Brenda Hollis questioned Taylor about how he may have skirted the Liberian legislature in order to get Robertson his gold mining contracts.

“Mr. Taylor, even the legislature in place in 1999 actually refused to ratify this agreement you had with Pat Robertson. Isn’t that correct?” asked Hollis.

Taylor answered: “There was contention about different issues, yes.”

And so you just went around the legislature.
