Don’t have enough money to go out and eat?  Panera Cares is an innovative café that allows you to pay what you can without leaving you feeling guilty or hungry. Via AlterNet:

If you were to only judge the world by watching the news, you’d think we had collectively lost all of our humanity, our intergrity. Neverending wars, devastating environmental disasters, punishing austerity measures… all of which impact the poorer among us more than the richer. Rare is the voice that speaks for the underprivileged. But, if you listen hard enough, you might just hear a little whisper out there in the distance.

Among those voices, Panera Bread founder Ron Shaich might well be the loudest. Last year, Shaich began an experiment in Clayton, Missouri. Restaurant Bans Children Under Six

Starting July 16, McDain's, a Pittsburgh-area restaurant, will ban children under the age of 6 from its dining area. Seattle Restaurant Refuses Service To TSA Workers

120px-TSA-DHSHow do you show your dissatisfaction with the action of TSA agents? Some people decide to “opt out” of the body scanners. Some wear nothing but a bathing suit. Others decide to refuse service to TSA workers who come into their resaurant. Via The Consumerist:

Fed up with what he views as crappy treatment from the TSA, the owner of a restaurant near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has decided to put all TSA agents on his No-Eat List.

“We have posted signs on our doors basically saying that they aren’t allowed to come into our business,” one employee tells travel journalist Christopher Elliott. “We have the right to refuse service to anyone.”

She says that whenever a TSA agent attempts to dine at the restaurant, “we turn our backs and completely ignore them, and tell them to leave… Their kind aren’t welcomed in our establishment.”

The restaurant claims that 90% of its patrons are in agreement with their stance and that the local police have actually helped escort TSA workers off the premises.

Photo: Public Enemy at the Primavera Sound 2008

Before placing them around your neck, what time should you set your clocks to? Chicken time! From Public Enemy to reality TV, Flavor Flav is now making his mark in the restaurant industry with Flav’s Fried Chicken. Hope it does well, considering it’s opening right next to a KFC establishment. The Clinton Herald reports:

He has pumped up concert-goers and swooned reality television audiences, and now the originator of hype is setting his clock for another creative venture — fried chicken.

Reality TV star and Public Enemy group member Flavor Flav said it’s time to open Flav’s Fried Chicken. The inaugural location for the fried-chicken franchise will be in Clinton, a move that seems as unlikely as Flavor Flav’s shift from popular musician to television star. But Flav received plenty of help picking the spot for FFC by local restaurateur and FFC business partner, Nick Cimino.
