Ron Paul

From the Daily Paul:

“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.”
— Senator Barack Obama, December 20, 2007

Also, here’s Ron Paul on “Freedom Watch” (I don’t see how Napolitano can remain on Fox News, I think by this time next year, I’ll be he’ll have been kicked out):

The Courier Press reports:

The former head of an Evansville-based company that tried to introduce a currency that competed with the U.S. dollar has been found guilty of federal charges in North Carolina.

Bernard von NotHaus, 67, was convicted Friday by a federal jury of making, possessing and selling his own coins, said Anne M. Tompkins, U.S. attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

After an eight-day trial and less than two hours of deliberation, von NotHaus, the founder and “monetary architect” of a currency known as the Liberty Dollar, was found guilty of making coins resembling and similar to United States coins; of issuing, passing, selling and possessing Liberty Dollar coins; of issuing and passing Liberty Dollar coins intended for use as current money; and of conspiracy…

When Republican Congressman Ron Paul, tagged ‘Dr.No’ inside the Beltway in reference to his consistent “No” votes to any legislation he deems unconstitutional, is the subject of a fawning front page profile…

Congressman Ron Paul has long been pressing the campaign to abolish privately-owned U.S. central bank, the Federal Reserve. Now he’s heading a subcommittee of the House Financial Services committee that actually oversees the Fed. Here’s hoping for some fireworks (what’s the expression – fox in charge of the chicken coop?) He talks about it about 3:23 into the Fox News clip below. Added bonus towards the end of the clip: Congressman Paul discusses some of his colleagues’ attempts to restrict free speech (read WikiLeaks) on the Internet.

Here’s something you won’t hear from the mainstream anytime soon…

Ron Paul, from a year and a half ago: “What if Obama has no intention of leaving Iraq? What if the American people learn the truth: that our foreign policy has nothing to do with national security, that it never changes from one administration to the next?”

And before you reactionaries react, Ron Paul spoke out against the Tea Party: See Ron Paul’s Shocking message to the Tea Party.

Has anyone else noticed that one of the hallmarks of the Obama presidency is the proliferation of “Czars”? There seems to be a Czar for pretty much anything you can think of,…

Judge Andrew Napolitano on the debut of Freedom Watch on the Fox Business Network discusses the similarities/differences between the social conservatives (Palin) and the constitutional libertarians (Paul) within the Tea Party/Freedom Movement. They discuss marijuana laws at about 6:28 minutes in. Perhaps not what you’d expect from Palin.

Opinion from Ross Douthat in the New York Times: No ideology survives the collision with real-world politics perfectly intact. General principles have to bend to accommodate the complexities of history, and justice…

From The Raw Story:

Texas Rep. Ron Paul proved once again Saturday that his politics continue to divide the Republican Party. He was met with both disapproval and applause during the Southern Republican Leadership Conference for describing conservatives as hypocritical when they call for a return to Constitutional values while supporting foreign wars.

The conservatives and the liberals, they both like to spend. Conservatives spend money on different things. They like embassies, and they like occupation. They like the empire. They like to be in 135 countries and 700 bases.

Don’t you think it’s rather conservative to say, ‘Oh it’s good to follow the Constitution. Oh, except for war. Let the President go to war anytime they want.’ We can do better with peace than with war.

Gay RepublicansWay back when, in the ancient days of the Bush Administration (circa 2004), Disinformation distributed a documentary called Gay Republicans, which focused on the activities of the Log Cabin Republicans. When I recently came across this video from the recent CPAC conference, seems like it’s history repeating itself with another group called GOPride.

These folks actually do vote, keep that in mind, Grand Old Party … after all, Ron Paul — who could care less about gay Americans serving in the military — did win the 2010 CPAC presidential straw poll, by a wide margin…

From USA Today: Talk about your political upsets. Rep. Ron Paul, hero of a fervant band of libertarians, unexpectedly won the presidential straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference today, claiming…

Palin not Paul? From the Washington Independent: His son Rand’s campaign for Senate in Kentucky is going better than anyone could have expected — every Kentuckian I met at the National Tea…

Michael Nystrom on the Daily Paul:

Excerpt from the Campaign for Liberty Regional Conference in Atlanta, GA. As the crowd begins to cheer, Ron Paul states, “We need to take out the CIA!”

There’s been a coup — have you heard? It’s the CIA coup. The CIA runs everything! They run the military .. and they’re every bit as secretive as the Federal Reserve. And yet, think of the harm they have done since they were established at the end of World War II. They are a government unto themselves. They’re in businesses, in drug businesses, they take out dictators … We need to take out the CIA!
