A Response To The Question “Why Do People Believe in Conspiracy Theories?”

Lately there have been a slew of “Why Do People Believe In Conspiracy Theories” articles, no doubt a reaction to the slew of conspiracy theories offered after recent tragedies such as the Aurora shooting, the Sandy Hook shooting, and the Boston Marathon bomb attack. The reasons given in these articles mirror many of the thoughts I have expressed when speaking to those with their own conspiracy theories. I frequently argue with conspiracy theorists here on Disinfo, but not for the reasons they typically give (“government shill” is the most common). I certainly believe there are and have been conspiracies within the US government to break the law at the expense of other people’s lives for the sake of greed and lust for power. What annoys me about the articles I mentioned is that they have all left out, or at the least severely underestimated, a very important reason people believe conspiracy theories.… Read the rest

Where The Intellect Leads The Heart Can Suffer

Fear of the unknown can be as common as knowing that the sun will set and rise once again. Chaos can be an ally, but can also bite the rear if given too much credence. Sometimes a person may feel the need to know, or the need to have some illusion of control over something they cannot possible know or control. This can have the potential of not only hurting the person also others, indirectly or directly. To Illuminate this, I share a story about a man who helped six children, and how the those needy for control have harmed themselves and others.

Obama Signs 23 Executive Actions Pertaining to Firearms

In the words of Gomer Pyle, “Surprise, surprise, surprise.” His NDAA-ship, The Predator King, has issued 23 Executive Actions aimed at firearm control. Funny how quick the presidential pen can move when it wants to: Marijuana is still illegal, gay marriage still a federal no-no, and the world continues to burn with a thousand US-connected brushfire wars, bit the pen doesn’t move an inch until domestic firearm control wanders into its line of sight.

Via CNN:

President Barack Obama on Wednesday proposed background checks on all gun sales and bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines as part of a package of steps to reduce gun violence in the wake of the Newtown school massacre last month.

With relatives of some of the 20 children killed in the Connecticut rampage looking on, Obama signed 23 executive actions that don’t require congressional approval that he said would strengthen background checks and expand safety programs in schools.
