Soy: It’s bad for You, and It’s Everywhere, Even in Vitamins

Via TruthStreamMedia.com

With the abundance of studies showing soy’s damaging health effects, it’s crazy that doctors across the nation and food manufacturers everywhere continue to tout how good it is for you to eat a ton of it.

The Healthy Home Economist reported there are a whopping 170 scientific reasons to cut soy from your diet — everything from causing pineal and thyroid gland dysfunction, to endocrine system interruption, to stopping a woman’s menstruation, to dropping a man’s testosterone levels, to links to breast and prostate cancer.

But soy is a really tough cut to make considering that it is found lurking in seemingly everything in America! Soy isoflavones in protein shakes, added soy vegetable proteins, soy lecithin as an emulsifier… Recently we even found soy hidden in canned tuna in water!

In fact, Dr. Sanjay Gupta reported that if Americans are what they eat, then this nation is made up of corn and soy people.

“Stop Fucking With the Soy”: Anti-Monsanto Activist Faced Anonymous Death Threats

SoybeanLucia Graves writes at the Huffington Post:

For 13 years Sofia Gatica has organized opposition to the aerial spraying of agrochemicals that threaten human health and the environment in Argentina — and for almost as long, she and her children have faced physical threats from anonymous agents.

Gatica, who lives in a working-class neighborhood of 6,000 in central Argentina surrounded by soy fields, began organizing against Monsanto after she noticed a disturbingly high rate of cancer and birth defects in her community. Her own 3-day-old daughter died of kidney failure in 1999, and a neighbor had a baby die of the same uncommon birth defect.

“I started seeing children with mouth covers, mothers with scarves wrapped around their heads to cover their baldness, due to chemotherapy,” she told Grist in an interview, explaining what inspired her to co-found Mothers of Ituzaingó. The efforts of those half-dozen mothers, who began going from door to door collecting information on health problems in their community, led to the first epidemiological study that showed cancer rates in Gatica’s hometown of Ituzaingó were 41 times the national average, with high rates of birth defects and infant mortality as well.Within a few years of the study’s publication, and as her advocacy work gave her a higher profile, Gatica began to receive death threats, culminating in an incident in late 2007…

Soy Protein Present in Egg Yolks and Chicken Tissues

Raw EggVia Health Freedoms:

There is a growing market today of consumers trying to avoid soy in their diet. Many people have developed soy allergies, and a number of people are concerned about the plant estrogen properties of soy protein. Soy protein is linked to the rise in hypothyroidism, early puberty in young girls, and lower testosterone levels in men, among other problems. Much of this research is documented in Dr. Kaayla Daniel’s book The Whole Soy Story.

What most people do not realize, however, is that due to the predominance of soy in animal feeds, soy protein is probably present in your food even if it is not listed as an ingredient anywhere. Very little testing has been done to determine if the soy protein from the animal feed is passed into the end products we consume. Most laboratories do not even have tests available to test for this.

Genetically Modified Soy Linked to Sterility, Infant Mortality in Hamsters

Jeffrey Smith, author and founder of the Institute for Responsible Technology, writing at Huffington Post:

“This study was just routine,” said Russian biologist Alexey V. Surov, in what could end up as the understatement of this century. Surov and his colleagues set out to discover if Monsanto’s genetically modified (GM) soy, grown on 91% of US soybean fields, leads to problems in growth or reproduction. What he discovered may uproot a multi-billion dollar industry.

After feeding hamsters for two years over three generations, those on the GM diet, and especially the group on the maximum GM soy diet, showed devastating results. By the third generation, most GM soy-fed hamsters lost the ability to have babies. They also suffered slower growth, and a high mortality rate among the pups.

And if this isn’t shocking enough, some in the third generation even had hair growing inside their mouths—a phenomenon rarely seen, but apparently more prevalent among hamsters eating GM soy.
