The Roswell Crash: Sixty-Six Years Old and Still Controversial

RoswellDailyRecordJuly8,1947Today marks the 66th anniversary of the Roswell UFO incident and debate still continues regarding what exactly happened on that day. All we know for sure is something happened, and the subsequent confusion (some may say cover-up) in the press covering the event and contradictory statements from the US military has been fuel for speculation ever since.

Did the United States recover the wreckage of an alien craft or a weather balloon? Here’s what we know for sure (or pretty close to sure):

On July 8, 1947, Roswell Army Air Field Public Information Officer Walter Haut issued a press statement indicating that a “flying disc” had been recovered from a crash site on a local ranch by elements of the 509th Operations Group. Local newspaper the Roswell Daily Record ran with the story, publishing a front-page feature with the title “RAAF Captures Flying Saucer on Ranch in Roswell Region”. Later that day, another statement was released, this time under Commanding General of the Eight Air Force Roger Ramey.… Read the rest

Highlights From The U.K. Defense Ministry’s Classified UFO Files

ufo reportsThe Telegraph combs through for some of the weirdest reports of UFOs by the public from formerly confidential files in the National Archive:

  • A caller to MoD UFO hotline reports that he has been “living with an alien” in Carlisle for some time.
  • A Cardiff man claimed a UFO abducted his dog, car and tent whilst he was camping with friends.
  • A Coventry woman saw “two orange balls” hovering in her back garden in July 2008 after her Springer Spaniel “unusually ran back in”. Frightened by what she saw, she locked the door and reported her sighting to the UFO hotline, asking whether she and her pet could be contaminated as a result.
  • A man, now living in the Netherlands, asked for the return of a cinefilm he said he had passed to two investigators in 1978, showing a UFO flying over his back garden in Romford. He said he had showed them where the craft had landed, and that the men had taken soil samples.

Top Five Most Obvious UFO Videos

A slow news week perhaps for New Media Rockstars, who “In honor of World UFO Day” have had their “UFO Facts Research Division” scour their files “(given to us courtesy of the NSA) to determine what is indisputable proof that we are not alone in the universe”:

While there are many videos purporting to show “something,” we’ve now entered an age when, like religion or ghosts, if there is actually something, we have the means of recording it — unless the aliens have developed some sort of cloaking device (I don’t think Jesus has mastered that technology yet).

And before you get all sassy and claim that UFOs exist because by definition anything we can’t identify is a “UFO,” that’s just semantics, nonbeliever. I won’t attempt to pitch you on the idea of little green men, otherworldly beings or “martians” — you either believe, or you don’t. But here are the 5 best pieces of evidence we have … so far.

Contacting Extra Dimensional Forms of Intelligence Through Sex Magick

kingofwitchesservitor3(1)The other day I got yet another question about the nature of sex magick on the Facebooks (friend me) and it occurred to me, you know, if I had a quick guide I could refer these people to that’d make my life easier, and hell, not everyone’s going to ask me questions on Facebook (or follow me on twitter @Thad_McKraken) so I might as well just get it out there. As a matter of fact, I actually directed this person to an article Jason Louv just did on the topic, but I’m not super comfortable with that either, mainly because I completely rejected a lot of the supposed fundamentals of that protocol regarding sigil design years ago. I didn’t choose magick, magick chose me (long story and you’ll have to wait for my book), and maybe a part of the reason magick chose me is because I’d revise the narrative on the subject of what sex magick is and what it does.… Read the rest

Why The UK’s Ministry of Defence Stopped Watching For UFOs

MoD letterNo defense benefits, eh? The British state media company (a/k/a BBC News) reports on why the country’s MoD decided to close its UFO desk giving examples of ridiculous reports (see letter at right). Who knows what the real reasons are, but something about this explanation doesn’t quite ring true to me…

The Ministry of Defence closed its UFO desk because it served “no defence purpose” and was taking staff away from “more valuable defence-related activities”, newly released files show.

The desk was closed in December 2009 despite a surge in reported sightings.

The disclosure came in National Archives files relating to reports of UFOs – Unidentified Flying Objects – between 2007 and November 2009.

They show UFOs were reported at several UK landmarks, including Stonehenge.

‘No benefit’
The latest tranche of declassified files covers the final two years of work carried out by the MoD’s UFO desk.

The 25 files include reports alleging contact with aliens and UFO sightings near UK landmarks, and detail the decision to close the MoD’s dedicated desk and “hotline”.

The Pier Fortunato Zanfretta Alien Encounter / Abduction

via UFO Research Network zanfretta2

A private security guard was destined to have one of the most bizarre, and outright terrifying, encounters with extraterrestrial beings ever recorded.

On the frigid, moonless night of December 6th, 1978, a 26 year-old night watchman, husband and father of two named Pier Zanfretta was on a routine patrol in the village of Torriglia, when he stumbled into a horrifying encounter with creatures from beyond our world that would forever change his life.

According to Zanfretta’s report, he was negotiating the dangerously icy roads in his patrol car, en route to the currently unoccupied country home of a client, Dr. Ettore Righi, when the engine, radio and lights of his vehicle all simultaneously, and inexplicably, died.

It was at that moment that Zanfretta claimed to have seen four lights moving around in the garden of the Righi house. Assuming that the strange beams were emanating from the flashlights of would-be thieves, Zanfretta quietly climbed out of his car with his revolver and flashlight at the ready.

Like something out of one of L. Ron Hubbard’s science fiction novels… From the Daily News:

Close encounters of the Scientology kind:

Pilots aboard three passenger planes in the vicinity of London’s Gatwick Airport late last year reported seeing a pair of “flat, silver discs” hovering near the UK headquarters of the Church of Scientology.

Air traffic controllers also said that they saw six UFOs on radar screens before the objects disappeared, according to a report issued last week by the UK’s Airprox Board.

The board examines reports of air traffic safety violations in UK airspace and recommends safety measures. Last week’s report failed to find an explanation for the pilot sightings from last Dec. 30 at about 9 a.m. It did describe how a Boeing 777 pilot raised the alarm at 8:53 a.m. after spotting “two flat silver discs”over the Scientology headquarters in East Grinstead minutes from touchdown at Gatwick.

Flying Saucers And The Working-Class Struggle

flying saucers and the working-class struggleWondering where socialist revolutionaries stand on the question of alien life? Via Marxists.org, a translation from a pamphlet distributed in 1968 Paris penned by J. Posadas (whose ideology was dubbed Posadism):

Capitalism has no interest in UFOs and, as such, makes no research into them. It has no interest in occupying itself with these matters because they cannot reap profits, nor are they useful to capitalism. But people see in UFOs the possibility of advancement and progress. This thus accelerates the fall of the bourgeoisie, shown in all its uselessness.

All the people who say that they have seen extra-terrestrials, UFOs, coincide in the fact that these beings have not frightened them, and that they have made themselves understood, without using an audible language, showing them that they mean no harm. They do not provoke a feeling of alarm, but of serenity. They create sensations of mellowness, suppleness, harmony, reassurance.

UFO Sightings In Canada Doubled In 2012

ufo sightingsIt is possible that the increase doesn’t mean the are more objects in the sky, but instead reflects people’s shifting relations to technology, superstition, and their surroundings. The Toronto Sun writes:

UFO sightings in Canada are at an all-time high, according to Canadian sky-gazers. The annual report from Ufology Research documented 1,981 UFO sightings in Canada in 2012, more than double 2011′s record 986.

While 40% of Canada’s UFOs were spotted in Ontario, every province save Saskatchewan and P.E.I. saw mysterious lights or objects in the sky.

Among Ufology Research’s theories on the growing phenomenon: “More secret or classified military exercises and overflights are occurring over populated areas; more people are unaware of the nature of conventional or natural objects in the sky; more people are able to report their sightings with easier access to the Internet and portable technology; or even that the downturn in the economy is leading to an increased desire by some people to look skyward for assistance.”
