The trio will hit the road in North America starting next month, with accompaniment on many dates by a 16-piece orchestra dubbed the “3030 Orchestra”.

Deltron’s new album, Event II, will be out on October 1, and includes a long list of unlikely contributors: Damon Albarn, Mike Patton, the Lonely Island, Rage Against the Machine’s Zack De La Rocha, Emily Wells, and Jamie Cullum, plus actors David Cross, Amber Tamblyn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and chef David Chang. Watch the trailer for the album after the dates.

The Instupicuous lyrical stylings of Deltron 3030.

Yo, it’s three thousand thirty

I want y’all to meet Deltron Zero, hero, not no small feat

It’s all heat in this day and age

I’ll raid your grave, anything it takes to save the day

Neuromancer, perfect blend of technology and magic

Use my rappin so you all could see the hazards

Plus entertainment where many are brainless

We cultivated a lost art of study and I brought a buddy

Automator harder slayer fascinating combinations

Cyber warlords are aggravating abominations

Arm a nation with hatred we ain’t with that

We high-tech archeologists searching for knicknacks

Composing musical stimpacks that impacts the soul

Crack the mold of what you think you rappin for?

Washington Man Charged With Blowing Up Family Dog He Believed Contained The Devil

devil

Religious devotion as horrifying insanity. Washington’s KOIN reports:

A father with children in the house who was preparing for “the Rapture” blew up his family’s Labrador Retriever because the devil was inside the dog, court documents showed.

Christopher Dillingham, 45, allegedly attached an explosive device to his dog and detonated it Sunday outside their home.

A slew of 911 calls sent deputies to Dillingham’s home. They found the remains of the dog strewn about the yard and arrested Dillingham on the spot. Dillingham told Skamania County deputies “the world is going to end” because and he was preparing.

He said he believed “the souls of demons” were inside the metal objects in the house, the documents said. His ex-girlfriend, he told the deputies, gave him the dog, named Cabella, and “put the devil in it.”

Climate Change Leads To Increase In Violence

AlfredPalmerM3tank1942bAs if rising sea levels, extreme weather and all the other meteorological effects of climate change weren’t bad enough, now it appears that it leads to increases in human violence, reports BBC News:

Shifts in climate are strongly linked to increases in violence around the world, a study suggests.

US scientists found that even small changes in temperature or rainfall correlated with a rise in assaults, rapes and murders, as well as group conflicts and war.

The team says with the current projected levels of climate change, the world is likely to become a more violent place.

The study is published in Science.

Marshall Burke, from the University of California, Berkeley, said: “This is a relationship we observe across time and across all major continents around the world. The relationship we find between these climate variables and conflict outcomes are often very large.”

The researchers looked at 60 studies from around the world, with data spanning hundreds of years.

Los Angeles Man Receives Life Sentence For Skinning And Dismembering Mother In Satanic Ritual Killing

satanic ritual

This incredibly disturbing saga harkens back to the heyday of heavy metal moral panic. Via the Los Angeles Times:

Prosecutors say that Moises Meraz-Espinoza strangled his mother and then skinned, filleted and dismembered her body as part of a satanic ritual. The woman’s internal organs were never recovered. A Norwalk jury convicted him of first-degree murder in June.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Heba Matta, said Meraz-Espinoza was motivated by satanic beliefs, which he was “heavily entrenched in.” His mother disapproved of his listening to death metal music and he regularly disobeyed her, Matta said.

“This crime was not in the heat of passion or rash and impulsive,” Matta said. “It was done for the purpose of devotion. That’s pretty much the ultimate sacrifice.”

Meraz-Espinoza has numerous tattoos that draw on satanic imagery, such as upside-down crosses and a 666 behind his right ear. Authorities recovered his copy of a satanic bible near the crime scene.

Gun Crime Rates Are Actually Down in the United States

firearmsCrimes in which the perpetrator used a firearm are actually on the decline, according to the Pew Center. That doesn’t mean that it’s still not a problem, of course. In any case, most Americans think that “gun crime” is actually higher than it has ever been.

LA Times:

Gun crime has plunged in the United States since its peak in the middle of the 1990s, including gun killings, assaults, robberies and other crimes, two new studies of government data show.

Yet few Americans are aware of the dramatic drop, and more than half believe gun crime has risen, according to a newly released survey by the Pew Research Center.

In less than two decades, the gun murder rate has been nearly cut in half. Other gun crimes fell even more sharply, paralleling a broader drop in violent crimes committed with or without guns. Violent crime dropped steeply during the 1990s and has fallen less dramatically since the turn of the millennium.

Is Our Addiction To Tragedy On Social Media Inspiring Violence?

via Tech Crunch F036-006

Anyone who uses social media has witnessed or been apart of this somewhat new phenomenon of being a part of an unfolding event that is so huge it will change how we operate. So many have an opinion this way or that. Others have theories, and others just want it to go away. Wellm, it may be really bad for everyone to be flinging around this information like a hot potato. It could be debasing all involved as well as giving those who did the deed just what they want and need.

If terrorism requires an audience, then the recent mainstream adoption of social media may be giving violent actors a bigger stage than ever before. There are many reasons people lash out at the world, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest that becoming the center of the attention could be a factor pushing some to commit atrocities.

How Should We React To A Terrorist Attack?

terrorist attackParadoxically, in a sense, by doing nothing, says security theorizer Bruce Schneier, speaking to the Washington Post:

What should policymakers do in the aftermath of this kind of event? Nothing. This is a singular event, and not something that should drive policy. Unfortunately, you can’t prevent this sort of thing 100 percent.

By definition, news is something that almost never happens. The brain fools you into thinking the news is what’s important. So what should we be afraid of? Car crashes. Global warming. It feels insensitive to say it so close to the tragedy, but it’s true. Things so common that they’re no longer news — that’s what kills people.

The damage from terrorism is primarily emotional. To the extent this terrorist attack succeeds has very little do with the attack itself. Imagine if the bombs were found and moved at the last second, and no one died, but everyone was just as scared.

Florida Man Kills Girlfriend As Astrology-Motivated ‘Sacrifice’

The dark side of zodiac compatibility tests, via the South Florida Sun Sentinel:

A Lauderhill man told a bizarre tale of needing to find a victim who had a Taurus zodiac sign when he described the fatal Easter Sunday stabbing of his live-in girlfriend to police, authorities said Monday.

Darrius Johnson, 22, stabbed Monica Gooden, 20, multiple times early Sunday at their residence, according to his statements recorded in a Lauderhill police complaint affidavit.

Johnson told police the victim had control over his spirit and that the couple had fought over his wanting a relative to live with them, the affidavit states. Police said that Johnson also told them he “sacrificed” the victim for his and her betterment, and that he knew he had to sacrifice someone with a Taurus astrological sign, the report states.
