Guy Known as “Captain Beany” Gets 60 Baked Beans Tattooed on His Head


It’s Friday, so here’s an absurd story of baked bean tattoos to get your weekend started.

Barry “Captain Beany” Kirk loves baked beans. So much so that he sat in a bathtub full of them and set a world record. Now he’s decided to take his love a step further and get beans tattooed on his head. It’s all for a good cause, mind you, each tattooed bean has a sponsor who pledged £60 to charity.

But the crazy stunt wasn’t all about him and his strange fascination with baked beans. 30 years ago, through his original bean stunt, Captain Beany not only managed to set a world record, but also raise a considerable amount of money for charity. The experience inspired him to quit his computing job and become a full-time fundraiser. For his 60th birthday, he came up with the idea of having baked beans tattooed on his head and asking people to sponsor each individual inking, with the proceeds going to a good cause.

What James Cameron Saw At The Deepest Spot on Earth (Video)

Returning from humankind's first solo dive to the deepest spot in the ocean, filmmaker James Cameron said he saw no obvious signs of life that might inspire creatures in his next "Avatar" movie but was awestruck by the "complete isolation." The Oscar-winning director and undersea explorer said his record-setting expedition to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, 7 miles beneath the surface of the western Pacific, not only capped seven years of painstaking preparation but was the "culmination of a lifelong dream."

Record Set For World’s Largest Chocolate Bar

The Grand Candy factory found a delicious way to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. The largest chocolate bar is to be chopped up and eaten in Armenia on October 16. From Huffington Post:
Anyone looking for huge amounts of free chocolate should book a flight to Armenia's capital next month. That's when the world's largest chocolate bar will be up for grabs in Yerevan's main square. The Guinness Book of World Records certified the 9,702-pound (4,410-kilogram) chocolate bar at a ceremony Saturday. It was made by Grand Candy factory and contains all natural ingredients, including 70 percent cocoa mass. The chocolate bar is 224 inches (560 centimeters) long, 110 inches (275 centimeters) wide and 10 inches (25 centimeters) thick. The factory owner, Karen Vardanyan, said that the chocolate bar was produced to mark the 10th anniversary of the company. He said it will be divided up and handed out Oct. 16.

Over 100 People Strip-Down and Ride For Breast Cancer

Is there a better way to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research than getting a crowd of people to ride a rollercoaster naked? I can't think of one. More than 200 people showed up in Southend, Essex to ride the Green Scream. As well as breaking a record amount of nude people on a single rollercoaster, £22,000 were raised for the Southend Hospital breast care unit. ITN News:
